flsvored bone cleanup
#1
After much searching I have found dog chew bones that would be perfect for gladius grips except for the fact that they are the flavored kind. Has anyone ever tried to clean these and if so how did you do it? I have thought about boiling and soaking in diluted bleach but don't know if it will damage the bone. Any thoughts on this?

Go to your nearest butchery and try to get complete fresh bones. Scrap away flesh, sinew and other adherent 'things'.
If you're only going to use the 'tube', better if you saw both heads away ( ) and then boil the bone inside a big recipient, so that the marrow dissolves and go away ( ). Now that everything is softer, scrap away the last remannants of adhering materials and let the bone dry...That's all!
It\'s all an accident, an accident of hands. Mine, others, all without mind, from one extreme to another, but neither works nor will ever.

I'd recomend boiling the bone in a well ventilated area as my wife complains bitterly about the smell emanating from the kitchen when I boil bones.
You are evil to set me up for trouble with my wife. She already thinks me odd for my "Roman Hobby" as she likes to call ity.

If we speak about smells, I thought that boiling cow bones was nasty until I tried horse bones! That was real stench!
