Merovingians , Carolingians and bearskin cloaks
#1
An interesting comment on the Carolingian Royal palace of Paderborn, where, in 777, Charlemagne held the first Frankish Imperial Assembly on Saxon ground.

From "Northwest Europe in the Early Middle Ages 600-1150: A Comparitive Archaeology" by Christopher Loveluck , published in October 2013, and but apartially on Google books.

" The recovery of bear claws at the (Paderborn) palace could also reflect hunting but their presence alone is more likely to reflect the wearing of a bearskin cloak (Wigh, 1998, 85-61, Doll 1999,448)."

Any other evidence for the wearing of bearskin cloaks after the Roman period?
