How do you silver a piece?

I use "Alexander Hamilton House" silver secret Plater. It is basically a non-toxic clay like liquid that is used to re-plate silverware. It isn't cheap, but works great and can be used for smaller things like these fitting etc. I've used it exclusively for silvering my scales for my armor, and now on various pieces for this project.

Here are the final pieces all assembled. They have been laid out "staged" on the scabbard and are as yet unattached. The next step will be to make the scabbard complete by dying it with a natural dye (Alkanet root) and lineseed oil. The covering it with a beeswax to seal it all up. Parts will then be assembled.

Baldric of some type may also need to be constructed, but I may wait on that.

I'm happy with it thus far. May not want to part with it :-)

Was leaning towards rivets, but am thinking now of going with some thin leather throngs or perhaps some waxed linen thread. We shall see

Couple new pics. The whole scabbard is nearly ready to be assembled.

The wood has been "painted"/stained with natural Alkanet root multiple times to give it a purple/burgundy look. The wood was then oiled with Linseed oil and is now being waxed to seal everything.

Then the finished scabbard slides will be riveted to the one half, both sides glued together and the rest of the metal decorative pieces added/nailed down.

The final item to do will be the Baldric and baldric attaching knobs....

The sword and scabbard have a new home. Thanks for all the compliments. It was a fun project. Now on to the next :-D
