Latest reported news on this one:

Roman 'Headhunters' in London

Sensationalised, of course, but they do at least seem to have a new date - AD120-160 - and no longer think the skulls come from a burial ground. The 'barbarian captives' idea was also suggested, I think, in relation to the decapitated skeletons at York...
