Sites in Tunisia
#1
I am going to be working in Tunisia quite a lot in the coming year and I should have some days off to go and see things.

I know there are a lot of really well preserved ancient sites there. Any suggestions as to what the 'must see' sites in Tunisia are?

I would say Carthage, the Bardot Museum and El Djem amphitheatre are the most impressive things.

Try looking at this itinerary for ideas of highlights - I visited in about 1997 with this company and their theme is archaeology/history, so this should give some inspiration:

I visted Libya with this guys back in about 2002 who also have a Tunisia itinerary which might have some other ideas:

The place was heavily looted a short time ago so try to avoid the temptation to buy an artifact on the black market if you can. You'll feel better and won't get arrested at the airport when they find it. My friend just lost his security clearance, his job and will not work in any job in his field as they all require a security clearance because he bought a small artifact lamp that was looted during the revolution.
