Rome and Modern Day Music
#1
Hello all,
I'm a hard core metal head and I love two bands that play roman themed music. I know not everyone are metal fans but I was just wanting to hear all of your thoughts and opinions on bands who play themed music based on historical cultures. I personally think its a great way to get my own generation as well as younger generation (and anyone who listens to it) to hear abit about history and get interested in it. Below are links to a few videos by two of the most popular roman themed bands, Ex Deo from Montreal Canada and Ade from Italy.
*Note I know the videos for ex deo are no where near accurate depictions and will probably make some of you die a little inside or at best puke in your mouth but hey at least its good music (well to metal heads)

Just for kicks theres also an American death metal band Nile that plays ancient Egyptian themed music that has become hugely popular

I love the german band In Extremo...not ancient, more medieval but fabulous bass and drums with bag pipes thrown in for good measure. Off to see them live in December Smile

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Merlot in one hand, Cigar in the other; body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!

guessing no one is interested in making an input on their thoughts of ancient history being used in music?
