Can anyone explain to me what the black substance which is used to do repoussé-work on is made of? Which ingredients are used and where can I get them? Or is it for sale ready for use?
How does your mix compare to say roofing tar, sawdust and plaster? Is you mix less sticky, firmer etc. ? Do you add equal amounts of lard and talc? I must know!

Sorry did not measure but the less lard the stiffer the mix and the talcum (French chalk) means its not too sticky and from bitter experience do not use the kitchen! or indeed anywhere else as it stinks and gets everywhere.
