Garisons of the Antonine Wall
#1
I was wondering if any of you cloud tell me something about the make up of the garrisoned troops on the Antonine Wall.
Thanks in advance

Most of the forts on the Antonine Wall are peculiar in that they are smaller than "normal". This means that few of them could have accommodated an entire unit at its full theoretical complement. (However, this "problem" may be more apparent than real, as the garrisons of many "normal" forts may have been composite, in any case.)

Carriden (1.6ha): garrison unknown
Mumrills (2.6ha): ala I Tungrorum, replaced (?) by cohors II Thracum equitata
Rough Castle (0.5ha): built by cohors VI Nerviorum; garrisoned by (part of) cohors VI Nerviorum
Castlecary (1.4ha): built by cohors I Tungrorum (+ legionaries); garrisoned by (part of) cohors I fida Vardullorum miliaria equitata (+ legionaries?)
Westerwood (0.8ha): auxiliary or legionary vexillation (?) under the command of a legionary centurion
Croy Hill (0.6ha): legionary vexillation (?)
Bar Hill (1.3ha): built by cohors I Baetasiorum (+ legionaries); garrisoned by cohors I Hamiorum
Auchendavy (1.1ha): built by legionaries; possibly garrisoned by legionaries (?)
Cadder (1.1ha): built by legionaries; garrison unknown
Balmuildy (1.6ha): built by legionaries; garrison unknown
