Flavius Crispus coming to Londinium again
#1
Avete, comilitones!

...especially those in Provincial Britannia Superior. I'll be in London this week, between Thursday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 20. I'd love to meet up with Celer, Varduli, and any other of my Romano-British brethren for some fine dining, drinking, and conviviality. Contact me at my personal email address: [email protected] and/or my work email, [email protected] . And if you have any nifty bits of 2nd century gear to sell, I'm always a buyer!
Salve frater Crispe,

I know that Birmingham is a lot closer to London than anywhere in California is but I still don't know if I can make it. I have a wedding to go to on Saturday and then the R.M.R.S. will be appearing at Bancroft Villa in Milton Keynes on Sunday. Added to that I am well behind on preparations for my own Roman wedding at Carlisle castle two weeks later, which will be followed by a week long walk (in full marching kit) along Hadrian's Wall, ending at Wallsend, where we will be doing another show. I hope I have time for some shopping and washing in all this! Still, coming to London may be a possibility, although my knowledge of London is about the same as my knowledge of most well known places in California where I have never been. Send a message to my EZbox to say where and when and I'll see if I can make it.
Avete Crispus et Celer:

I find I have Sunday completely free. I'd love to come out to Milton Keynes and see you guys at Bancroft. Can I come? Might you have any spare gear I can kit myself up in for the day?

(Crispus, I tried to access your email box through the site, but found I couldn't access it for some reason. It kept asking for my login info; when I entered it, it said "no such account"; when I tried to create a new account, it said "account already exists." Hmpf! Anyway, I am staying at the Victoria Park Plaza hotel, 020-7769-9998, room 453. I'll be in and out of my hotel room, so if I'm not in today (Saturday), leave a message and a mobile (?) I can reach you at. I'm excited about seeing you guys in full regalia, and if Bancroft is anything within, say, a two-three hour train ride of London, I will for sure be there!

(Wish I'd have known about this, or I would have packed at least my hamata, helmet, calcei and tunic!).

Hope to see you tomorrow (Sunday!).
Avete, fratres!

Well, I did get to Milton Keynes and watched the RMRS / Leg XIIII GMV put on a very nice program for the locals of the Archaeological Society. After scrambling to find a local Tesco store, I managed to get a disposable camera and took a load of photos, which I'll post soon enough. Particularly nice religious ceremony led by my counterpart, Legio XIIII's optio. Lovely civilian displays as well! Thanks to all fo ryour hospitality and for sharing the tent with a Yank Roman when it started to pelt! We'll certainly reciprocate when one or more of you lot find yourselves in Southern California!
Frater Crispe,

Sorry not to see you at Bancroft. I got tied down with family matters and consequently could get there in time. Glad you liked the reiligious ceremony. Normally it would have been me taking the acolyte role and Suavis the signifer being the priest. I am very pleased to know that Zenas did so well and I would be fascinated to know who took my place! Again, sorry to have missed you - perhaps next time. I sent my contact details to your ez inbox.
