Principate Shield Patterns
#1
I saw a post a while back where someone had posted a picture from a book where the author had tried to identify shield patterns from art/statues/etc with individual Legions.

However, I cannot find it, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out.

knowing him as I do I very much doubt that Phil Barker gave his permission for the book to be made into an internet version that is free to download!

They didn't have the internet back then, I don't support downloading it for free, I just needed that one picture.

I bought a copy a while back. If it's determined to be a pirated version, what's the RAT policy on that?

Just asking...

Honestly I don't think we have one. I'll bring this up in the mod forums, and until then I will be taking down the link.

Phil Barker is still around, and he is the author, so if he wanted to make an e-Book available he could do so. His website is out of copies, but AbeBooks lists a used copy in the US for under $20.

I have not checked this forum frequently since 2013, but I hope that these old posts have some value. I now have a blog on books, swords, and the curious things humans do with them.

"And the four bare walls stand on the seashore. a wreck a skeleton a monument of that instability and vicissitude to which all things human are subject. Not a dwelling within sight, and the farm labourer, and curious traveller, are the only persons that ever visit the scene where once so many thousands were congregated." T.Lewin 1867

We have the same position on this as international law: if it's still copyrighted, we do not promote it by showing links to it in this forum.
