Want to make a subarmalis with petrugis any ideas?

Interested in trying to construct my own subarmalis with petrugis any ideas?

Could the Romans have used this item in the Republican Era could they have used
a similar construction method to that of the Greeks in the way the
petrugis were made by laminating layers of fabric and or leather?

Has anyone read the book:

Reconstructing Ancient Linen Body Armor
by Gregory S. Aldrete

I think he has some good ideas on petrugi making.

Hello mate

Big can of worms here lol there are several threads on subarmarlis construction, have a browse, see what you turn up, of course it may well be that it may be cheaper to buy one ready made

Thanks for your post here.

Could be cheaper to buy one.

I dont have a reenactor group I can get together with at this time.
I have time to read and work on craft projects in my free time.
Thought I might have a go at it. Though there is the risk
of my kit (subarmalis I make myself) might not be acceptable
to the reenactor community once I finally finish it.

Thought I might try and learn if the Greeks influenced this item
of petrugis as its unusual to any other culture that I am aware of
with use of armor.

Ave Luca Bonacina;

Thank you very much for your link to the instructional guide
on how to make a subarmalis with petrugis!

That is absolutely fantastic! I shall use it with your permission.
for the subarmalis is this also copied from a statue of the period?

I like the calcei (boot style) foot wear that you have what is the historical reference for them?
