Are there any Marcomannic Larp Groups out there?
#1
Ave Y'all,
Are there ANY Celtic or Marcomannic Larp groups out there? Particularly in Ohio? The reason that I ask is that I wish to form a Classis group and it seems that all I have found are S.C.A. groups and their rules....Granted, no one has been killed in 50 years, but finding S.C.A. acceptable Roman Combat gear is next to impossible. One would think that a group that started out using Carpet armour and oxytanks for helms wouldn't be that choosy,...well no deaths or lawsuits due to injuries in 50 years.
What I am hoping to find IS a celtic or Marcomannic group that we could use for battle opponents for events.
Any takers? Thanks.

Oh, I wouldn't say that SCA acceptable combat gear is that hard to find...you just need to make some authenticity sacrifices in favor of safety. Here's the SCA thread - you just might find some gear there that could be of use...

WOW Quintus,
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and You too John. The Cincy group isn't too far away!! Quintus, that 4 page thread is going to be printed out and stuck in my file folder for starting the group. LOTS of great info in it! I go back to the days of Carpet armor, but dropped out because my 1st wife didn't care for it. My BEST half, Jaqui,...aka Antonia has been SCAdian for years.
Thank You both again!!!!
