Thanks for this, Martin. I have been lurking on this list-server for a while to my advantage, but I missed this post. The paper about the Budapest find that is the primary basis of the hypothetical reconstruction is attached. I also considered a ring-pommel, based on ones I had seen in London, but I was not sure of the dating of them (the Dorchester belt find came with a ring-pommel knife, for instance).
