Roman Dorset by Bill Putnam
#1
Having read nearly all of this book in one day, i know one should refrain from the "meaty bits", but human nature allways seems to drag one to the best bits, i would recomend, especially for those that do not reside in this area, that this book be read. It contains info re Dorchester/Dorset and much more of the pre-Roman and Roman landscape including "lost" towns. It covers roughly from 100BC to 450AD. The Villa section is brill.
It surprised me with information.
£17.99 on the cover....mine was £9.90 delivered via Amazon...bargain.

It also informed me of another 2 Auxillary Cohorts Equitata Quinginaria.....i think ,minimum being detached from the II AVG Legion, based at Exeter, my hypothenis grows to why II AVG were none present at the Boudican revolt.
All info is slowly assimilated and churned out, as this book. A damn good read full of references as well.
