That is interesting, I only knew the Newstead thigh protector, have manicae been found?

I know the Newstead thigh protector overlaps upward and so do more recent manica variants from China and Turkey

but if you know a Roman period manica, could you tell me more about it?

By the way, the more recent Turkish and Chinese manicae are much lighter than the manicae reconstructions shown in the article you kindly drew my attention to. And they go all the way around the arm, as is also shown on ancient and medieval depictions. And Asian manicae are much older: very small iron hoops have been found in 4th century Scythians graves from the Kuban area, in addition to which, the Scythians used manicae covered with tiny plates.

It seems the Romans developed these oriental pieces of armour into something much heavier and less flexible.

In the late era you see it on Cataphractarii and Clibanarii where it appears to encircle the whole arm.
