Free book on Roman military equipment, anyone?
#1
This was pointed out to me by Frances McIntosh of Hadrian's Wall Museums. An entire military equipment volume as a free download (there's other stuff in the series there too):

Deschler-Erb, E. 1999: Ad Arma! Römisches Militär des 1. Jahrhunderts n. Chr. in Augusta Raurica, Forschungen in Augst 28 PDF

If you can't read the German, just enjoy the piccies ;-)

You know my method. It is founded upon the observance of trifles

Blogging, tweeting, and mapping Hadrian\'s Wall... because it\'s there

Hi,
1) Thanks a lot.
That spurred my curiosity. :woot:
2) And while "we're at it"
(Well, sometimes you think you've seen it all, but then .... :cheer: )
Further diggings led to :

(That one may or may not have been published here already.)

A good part of the swiss publications about Biesheim-Oedenburg (Alsace)/"Argentovaria" ?

A thing or two about Windisch (CH)/Vindonissa

Yes indeed -- various things.
Hate to repeat the "founding father" of this thread , but .......
...language aside ... a lot of it is in the pics/tables etc.

Hoping to serve you well

Its funny how the world works. Learning German online, switch tab to RAT for a second, and BAM, German military history book. Thanks.

None of it is in English, but English and German are pretty close so its easy to pick out some words in the article. Many of them are "Germanized" Latin or English terms.
