The face of a legionary ?
#1
From the Exhibition at Mainz(D) ("Im Dienste des Kaisers" ,roughly translated : In the emperors Service)
Report here : http://www.dradio.de/dkultur/sendungen/fazit/2311452/ (IN German)
Comes a "reconstruction" of a legionaries' face based on a real-world skull which has been treated with "forensic methods" to "Show his real-world face".
Pic here:
http://www.dradio.de/dkultur/sendungen/f...mage_main/
BTW: "Da pic" is in "international language". ;-)
The "original possessor" of the skull is presumed to have lived around 10 BC.
They also mention that the skull has a four-edged nails' hole , so it may have been used as a trophy.
It strikes me that this may well be the one skull that has already been mentioned here:

A couple o' days late for Halloween , dont't you think ?

That's really nice! I'd like to have seen dental analysis done, too, to find out the man's origins ... Sad
