Does anyone know what type of flowers were grown in ancient Pompeii?

Salvete!
The booklet 'Roman gardens and their plants' from Claire Ryley will give you a good start on this topic.
(ISBN 0904973166). It has an extensive list of plants and their uses, aswell as a list of native and Roman plants.
I have several other publications on Roman gardens but they are all in Italian, so if interested, I will post them too.

Hello Joshua,

You might want to check out:

"The Garden of Hercules at Pompeii" (II.viii.6): The Discovery of a Commercial Flower Garden
Wilhelmina F. Jashemski
American Journal of Archaeology, Vol. 83, No. 4 (Oct., 1979), pp. 403-411

I can copy it for you and email it to you.

Jashemski has written fairly extensively on Pompeian gardens and agriculture. I encourage you to check out her other publications, such as The Gardens of Pompeii: Herculaneum and the Villas Destroyed by Vesuvius.

Best,

Lucianus
