While I have so far been unsuccessful at convincing my future bride to be of having a roman themed wedding, she has expressed some interest in having a replica of a roman chariot made for the event. If any members on here have undertaken a similar project or could provide some decent references for details, construction methods, etc - it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Martin,
congrats on your forthcomming wedding. As for your idea it is interesting to know little more of what you're exactly looking for? The Romans didn't have chariot warfare, so we can't tell anything on Roman army chariots. Another option would thus be to make a travelling couch.
However, sticking with the chariot idea you'll have to options. Either go for a triumph chariot. Of these we know little, but they must have been highly decorated as they were carrying a wealthy and successful general in his triumph. Second choose can be a racing chariot for the circumcenses games.
Dr. Markus Junkelmann did some research into chariots and present his results in his 'Die Reiter Roms' books.
As for real reconstructions of chariots I know off little to none. Most of the 'racing' ones seem to be just of a modern construction with some 'Roman decorations' applied to it. Nevertheless, there're some very good celtic army chariot replicas, as we've finds from their panoply. Check 'Dekadentrix' from Germany or 'Le portes de histoire' from France for instance. Both have marvellous chariot replicas.

The triumph chariot seems to be more in line with what we were considering and would likely be more appropriate. It would be unfortunate if there is no evidence available as turning to hollywood representations always seems to be so much off the mark. Its just an idea at the moment but we have a few years to plan so anything is possible.
Thanks,
Martin
