I know the Romans hired the slingers from the Balearic Islands. I was wondering if they hired any other slingers and what type they(and the Balearics) used.

Perhaps it was the same as with the archers. There was a group of highly trained professionals/specialists (Hamians), but the average miles had also taken archery training and could have been includes in squads of archers.
I like your sling. Recently, I had one made of flax which looks just like yours, but find the strings are a bit wide and cause resistance. How wide is your braided section?
I just measured and the strings are half an inch wide and the pouch strings are a quarter inch wide. I could pm you some pics if you'd like. I am also working on a shorter version if you'd like one.

Do you happen to know what equipment the archers/slingers carried?

I would think being ordinary soldiers, they would have basic kit. I doubt a lorica segmentata would be very practical using a bow or sling, but a hamata works fine.
You sling is the same size as the one I have. Do you achieve good results? Perhaps I just need more practice, but I found the sling to have a lot of airdrag being so wide.
I can achieve 300 yards with a round rock I have never tried lead, though.
