If it was a natural sheepskin maybe, but too many skins have been too thoroughly cleaned.. might as well buy a bottle of lanolin.... if you can find real lanolin...<br>

Besides it'd have to be well soaked in oil for storage and the leather would still deteriorate. The leather has to be kept supple with diligent maintenance.<br>

A dry airy location is best... even moisture can be trapped inside an oily sack.<br>

If you are a proponent of burnished steel you must treat it with period materials as anything else is disingenuous. Besides, period materials work! Nut oils, wax...<br>
