Ave, Mike,
Is this the Cavalry(?) helm found in the farmfield.... The wone w/ the Goddess on the pseudo visor? I'm looking forward to seeing how the Conservation is going on it. Please keep us informed.

Ave, Renatus,
Thanks, but that's not the one.

Well, Michael's picture which he has kindly posted is most definitely the Crosby Garrett helmet and it is that that the conference is about (although the afternoon will be given over to Coulston and me filling in some of the background to the hippika gymnasia and sports equipment etc).

Perhaps you are thinking of the Hallaton helmet, a cavalry battle, not sports, helmet. The conservation on that was finished some time ago and it is now on display.

Very interesting. Will there be any information or publication available for those who will not be able to attend? Carlisle is, unfortunately, too far for a day trip - but nevertheless, I'm eager to hear more about this helmet.
