Quiver - First Attempt
#1
Hi, I am interested in Roman archery, but like posters in the past have had to work in the dark, going on essentially the bare facts that a Roman quiver will probably be cylindrical-ish, back-mounted and leather. I'm re-enacting early 3rdC where quite a bit of leatherwork seems to me to be dyed red and I feel the quiver might benefit from the same treatment.
But, my final result is just a stab in the dark. Have a look, and be kind BTW: I use it weekly at my local archery club, where I am the odd-ball with my Eastern bow, bronze thumb-ring and wacky Mongolian release!
The Last Legionary
This book details the lives of Late Roman legionaries garrisoned in Britain in 400AD. It covers everything from battle to rations, camp duties to clothing.

So, you're into archery eh Mithras? Maybe you wouldn't mind taking a peak at some of the auxilliary archer threads in the "military history" area and this one as well?
Magnus/Matt
