I did just contact them via their website and got a reply in English. I think it is his wife that speaks English... so I didn't have any problems communicating

I can't talk...my tunic was hanging down in Rome last year! Not intentionally, but
I can't make much excuse ,excepot sweat and a thinner tunic contributed to th dishevaled look!

Still on my list of things to do..I like your regime of preping/training for it,
i think I wil lbe doing the same thing as evnts only get yo uwarmed up to wearing your gear,

Today I walked 17 miles/28.2 km. More than 500m of elevation too. I am suitably tired!
Thanks to Moi/Vindex for her suggestion of stuffing wool into the fronts of my boots to prevent bruising. I did so (too late), and it helped a lot.

You will need to hand wash it in around 40 degrees. I recommend soak flakes if you can get some rather than detergent. Soap flakes will keep the wool soft and non itchy.
Rinse it out, wring it out - and MOST IMPORTANTLY, pull it back into shape as its drying, both ways
All done. Thanks for the advice, Claire. I have wool/cashmere washing liquid, which I used. Seems to have worked thus far. Yesterday was the first decent day for drying clothes outside - the tunic had almost dried by the end of the day. No great need for the Roman dehumidifier!

We began yesterday, from the west. Started late, because the taxi driver didn't know where to go. Grrr.
Anyway, did 16 Roman miles of the line of the line of the wall,and about 17-18 real miles/ 27-29km. All OK, no blisters, just a bit foot sore. Russ had the hardest time in the mail shirt; his helmet is also about 3 kg.
