HELLO AND A QUESTION
#1
Hello my name is Thom and this is my first post on RAT. My question is this. If a 1st century brass helm was still in use in the 2nd century would a Auxillary E brass still be in service by the early to mid 4th century if was made in the late 2nd or 3rd. Also does anyone know how to make Late Roman socks THANKS Caius

There are examples of 1st-century AD helmets converted for use in the later Roman period (the so-called Auxiliary-Infantry C helmet from Firenze is one example, another is in the museum at Krefeld, although I am unsure if that one is published) so anything is possible, although the one thing you could be sure of is that it is very unlikely that it would be in its original condition!
