papyrus scroll sizing
#1
For some reproduction work I'm searching for the 'avarage' size of papyrus scrolls. More specifically the 'height' of the scrolls. Unfortunatelly, until now I'm unable to get much information on the size of those few scrolls that have survived.

Anyone any info?

Hello, Jurjen. F.G. Kenyon (Books and Readers in Ancient Greece and Rome, 1932; second edition, 1951) listed various dimensions, proving (a) that there wasn't a uniform height, but also (b) that the height usually fell within the range c. 25-30cm (converting Kenyon's imperial measurements).

Thanks Duncan. This is just the information I needed. I was planning to use 30cm, so it seems I would be okay with that Big Grin
