Roman Dice Game Rules
#1
I've been searching the past few days for rules to roman dice games. I am particularly interested in the gambling games the Romans used to play with dice.

Any help would be appreciated. I've searched through the forums here and there are a few topics on this. However, the links provided in some of the posts are from a while ago and some of the links are dead. Sad

Thanks!

Actually I am talking about 6 sided dice games. I know the Romans used them. I am looking for the rules to the games that used 6 sided dice, especially those that involved gambling which I am sure most of them did. Smile

I'm just guessing but I think it might not be used for regular dice gaming but maybe for something like fortune telling because the signs on that dice resemble those used for the zodiac and some extra symbols.

Though it's not a dice game, romans came into contact with nine men's morris. We have a nice little board, and use ad hoc rock pieces, though I will make two sets of chips from wood during the winter.

A good coverage on all Roman board games you will find here (as was already mentioned elsewhere in this forum):

These are all really cool resources! However, I probably didn't make my objective clear, and that's my fault.

I would really like to find how the Romans (especially the soldiers) used dice to gamble with.

In other words the rules, winning throws, how bets were made/increased etc. for the gambling games. I would expect that the rules would not include cards, tokens, etc. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like the soldiers probably would only have a set of dice with them, maybe using a drinking vessel as a dice cup?
