it all depends, when you have quarter inch callauses you might not need to worry, most doctors would scream if they saw my feet, leather I tell you. <p></p><i></i>

Running around a battlefield littered with sharp weaponry while wearing sandals is one aspect of ancient warfare that doesn't often come to mind. I'm sure their feet were akin to yours, TFAMB!

For a later example of a barefoot army, there are the Zulus. In order to increase the mobility of the army, Shaka Zulu commanded that the warriors give up wearing sandals. He (supposedly) paraded his men over open country, and anyone showing any hesitation was executed.
