This is awesome, typically you don't see many Republic impressions like these.

My earlier Republic history is foggy, so forgive me if i'm wrong, but is it correct to see so many legionaries armed with gladii in the battle?

Hi Matt - yes, it was awesome to see such a Republican event, especially for me, as all my books so far have been set in those times.

AFAIK, it is correct to have hastati, principes and triarii with gladii, yes. The velites or skirmishers probably weren't armed with swords, unless they were lucky, but the rest of the legionaries were.

It was a sweet first meeting between Italian and Spanish reenactors and Ben Kane! I would like to meet you, Ben, but this time wasn't possible.
Next one will be the great meeting... as i said in other post, something great is about to become in that sense...
