I found an interesting article on the Huffington Post about a re-enactor's experiences. Evidently he has also written a book about it.
There isn't much in the article, but I thought some people might be interested in it or the book. It seems to be more about the lifestyle, from a mildly humorous perspective, and explaining it to those unfamiliar with it.
