The soundtrack of my youth
#1
Of course, Lennon and McCartney were more innovative, Bowie was more creative, and Strummer was more urgent. And of course everything had been prepared by Giorgio Moroder. But it happens to be the soundtrack of my youth. Without the music of Donna Summer, who died today, my youth in a suburb in a provincial town would have been even less exciting.

I think her best song was I feel love.

That's too bad...she was a good artist.

I always liked "She works hard for the money" though back then I wasn't aware how critical this song is about a single mother earning money. And of course "Hot Stuff" is a classic.

She had a better voice.. and better looks.

While we're on the topic, rest in peace Levon Helm...

Lots of good musicians leaving us this year so far.

(and for the record, the soundtrack of my youth was largely Neil Young)

While i was loath to admit it back then, as other bands and groups were more to my likeing, I too found her 'I feel Love' hypnotic!
Visne partem mei capere? Comminus agamus! * Me semper rogo, Quid faceret Iulius Caesar? * Confidence is a good thing! Overconfidence is too much of a good thing.

Hypnotic. That was the word I was looking for.

Some of her repertoire. Certainly.

For me, it was just the one song.
Visne partem mei capere? Comminus agamus! * Me semper rogo, Quid faceret Iulius Caesar? * Confidence is a good thing! Overconfidence is too much of a good thing.
