Joze,

The helmet is also in the database as "Coolus CA 04 (Unknown)", not much information there, I am afraid. I am not sure what "old" and "new" database you are referring to.

The helmet was published in P. REINECKE, Ein frühkaiserzeitlicher Bronzehelm aus der Donau bei Straubing. Germania 29, 1951. I am afraid that I currently do not have access to this publication but it is a river find so there is not much in terms of context. There is also limited information in Paddock, John Miles, The bronze Italian helmet, 1993 University College London, p.643, No.253 & Fig.180, 4 and PERNET, Lionel: Armement et auxiliaires gaulois (IIe-Ier siècles avant notre ère), 2010 p. 118. According to these it is 142mm high, 230mm long and 187mm broad and weighs 680g.

The helmet was apparently part of the Prähistorische Staatssammlung München, Germany, S 65 66. However, below is a photo I took in the Römer-Kelten-Museum Manching, Germany (north of Munich). I believe that the helmet is now permanently kept there but given the nature of my notes cannot completely exclude the possibility that what I photographed was only a replica. Your friend may want to call the museum to avoid disappointment.

I hope this helps as a start for further research.

Hi Jens,
thank you, your article sounds great! I was in the Museum in Munich, but i don't remember on this item. In Manching i was twice and have fotos of the all items there. I will look them, mabye i have foto of this item, too.
Thank you for the book-items, too.

I mean, i don't find here in the forum the helmet database; there are only threads about the helmets. The link wich i linked above in my text is of the old forum.
Regards to Munich,

Joze
Edit:
I have foto, too:

Joze,

Thank you for the photo, it is better than mine Big Grin !

I am afraid that the helmet database you have linked to is the only one there is.

For further research it might be helpful to know that the exhibition catalogue "Das keltische Jahrtausend" (München 1993) gives as height only 13,8 cm (perhaps it is still growing? ).
According to this book and "Römer zwischen Alpen und Nordmeer" (exhibition cat. München 2000) the inventory number in the Prähistorische Staatssammlung is (or was?) 1934,2.

There's another picture and basic information here: arachne.uni-koeln.de/item/objekt/221560
