Saalburg no 221
#1
A shoe from one of the wells of the Saalburg castell that I always wanted to do since I first saw it because of the beautiful decoration of the upper. I think many have seen pictures of it at some point or marvelled at the original when visiting the Saalburg museum. Not surpprisingly it turned out to be quite a bit of work :-P

See here for some pics:

A quick addition - I made another version of this shoe, this time with embroidery and decoration as suggested by Marquita Volken in her Archaeological Footwear: Development of Shoe Patterns and Styles from Prehistory till the 1600's, see here:

stunning work. I dread to ask how much a pair would cost? Do you have a price list of more of your works of craft?

Masterful work!

Pity the mere soldier I impersonate would wear some more sturdy and less beautiful boots Smile

Hi Wayne,

I'm sorry, but I don't keep a pricelist. If you are interested in any one type, just send me a PM. I haven't really considered it, but as a quick guess I think this one here would be around 350.- euros or so, as it is quite a bit of work as you can easily imagine.
