Roman swords vs Greek swords
#31
Hmmm, ok.
Visne partem mei capere? Comminus agamus! * Me semper rogo, Quid faceret Iulius Caesar? * Confidence is a good thing! Overconfidence is too much of a good thing.

Something that manufacturers who know a lot of how both types of swords were constructed, would agree, is that the Greek sword was much more difficult to make. Craftsmen like Matt Lukes and Craig Sitch would confirm this. The Greek xiphos was not only a very sophisticated sword(in fact there were many types of them), but it's design is also very elaborate, making it more expensive. Just one more factor to consider...

Indeed they do, and they continue to do so right through the Roman era and beyond.

Also most museum exhibits show the weapons of the celebrities of the Era.
Most rank and file cheap stuff did not made it to our days.

Kind regards

So which Greek sword was developed first the Kopis or the Xiphos? Also was there a big change in sword style from one to the other or were they used simultaneously throughout the ages?
