Hello, I was wondering if anyone could think if this way of obtaining a gladius's suspension ring can be a good source.
Go to your local hardware store, hunt down a half inch diameter compression ring. I hope this doesn't break any forum rules, or I will remove this, here is a link to what I mean.

It's quite thin, but it's very strong. I have an exact one of these in at access in two suitable sizes. Half inch, and three-quarter inch diameter. I have bought two half inch ones, to try, and looks alright. I might upload a pic when I get my camera is charged. This seems to me, out of all the brass fittings the most suitable solution.
