Excellent, athmospheric photos Robert! The colour composition is wonderful, warm red, orange, brown hues contrasted with the icy blue and white. Dammit, I must reconstruct something new soon Wink!

Not yet anyway. I'm still a bit doubtful. Unpainted, you can show very good how the shield is constructed from small planks.

I will make a confession here. I ordered my scutum with orders to have the front side painted red with the white "Fectio" emblem on it. I also asked if the back side could be painted blue. When I opened the parcel I noticed that I got a shield with a blue frontside and unpainted backside! I thought it looked surprisingly cool and I also found evidence supporting it from the Notitia Dignitatum. There you have it Wink!
