I have been working on this concept for quite some time.
The concept can up in 2003 after reading the Maurikios Strategicon.
Since 02-10-2011 we officially have within our Living History Group Teuxandrii (NL based) a Roman Era scouting group that bears the name Numeri Exploratores Teuxandrii.
Our first try out presentation was in 2010 at Fort Vechten in Bunnik (NL).
Some might remember this, even some Photos are already on this forum
Because we portray the Local population in Roman Service adding Numeri covered the name better than a Turmea, Alea, Cohort etc.
Teuxandrii is a slight change in the original (group/tribe) name Texuandrii of the people that lived in our regions during Roman times.
We are working on a group size of 8 scouts with one officer, on foot and on horse.
Most will be scouts on foot.
We are now 6 scouts and one officer.
If you want to do something the best thing is to do some research first before buying and making a lot of stuff.
Every scout will eventually have 3 sets of Kit: 1 Field summer, 1 Field winter and 1 Parade.
Focus at this moment is on Field kit.
All offensive and defensive weapons are replicas of the originals found in our region, some of these are still not published.
But we have the green light to replicate those.
Clothing is ready:
The basic colors we use are darker Brown, Green and Blue shades.
Shields are ready:
We use the same colors for our shields and helmet covers as that we use for clothing.
Shields are small between 30 to 50cm wide and 50 to 70cm long.
During the try out in 2010 and last weekend people walked past us at short distance but did not notice us standing between the trees.
As you can understand we don't walk around with mirror polished equipment during field deployment
I personally like this concept very much because we know local scouts were employed by the Roman Military it also adds an extra to the overall presentation during an event.
Work is still in progress, but pictures will show up here
So if you look for some scouts just send a messenger with a good proposition  and we will do the job.
