Images for a book on the Macedonian army part 2
#1
Hi Everyone (again!),

I forgot to say in my previous post that I would in fact be very interested in any images of Macedonian swords, helmets, shield fragments, gorgets etc from the 4th / 3rd centuries BC and held in northern Greek museums (Thessaloniki, Vergina, Amphipolis, Ioannina, Dion, Corfu etc).

Thanks for your help,

David

Amphipolis Museum http://s284.photobucket.com/albums/ll17/...230739.jpg and you will find many other Greek museums there. Don't forget the images of Macedonians on Thracian tombs (eg Kazanluk) as well! There are also some pictures you will find useful from Turkish museums eg Tekirdag, Istanbul. You may also like to extract some images from my YouTube channel (principally the Hellenistic mercenaries and the Alexander sarcophagus in the Istanbul museum). I managed to sneak some video from inside the Vergina tomb before my camera was confiscated (!) but I don't think it is good enough quality.

Many thanks Chris! I am continually amazed at just how generous and helpful people have been. I'll take a look at the photos you kindly mentioned but in fact I already have a large number thanks to the contributions of enthusiasts from all over the world. My current estimate is about 40 odd (mainly colour) photos, with an added 30 to 40 line drawings. I'll also be visiting Thessaloniki in early December to get a few more pics.

thanks again,

David
