Obtaining images for a book on the Macedonian army
#1
Hi Everyone,

I have been researching for a book on the Macedonian army to be published in 2012 (or early 2013) and would like to ask if any members have photographs from Greek museums that I can obtain. I can only pay a small amount for each image, but you would, of course, be fully acknowledged in the book. The images I am most keen to get are:

- the three figures painted above the door lintel to Bella Tomb II (Vergina)

- the servants and soldiers on the frieze from the Agios Athanasios tomb (near Thessaloniki)

- a brightly painted vessel with figures of warriors and Amazons (Museum of Amphipolis)

- some of the Ptolemaic helmet and shield models from Allard Pierson Museum (Amsterdam)

Many thanks,

David

How about the Vegora Phallangite shield and a sarissa point?

Plus you might want to contact these people:

Thanks for your help. I would include the Vegora shield fragments and indeed any other shield fragments available (Dodona, Paliokastro, Dion, Staro Bonce etc). The problem I find is that from here in England, where I'm based, getting in touch with Greek museums is a tricky business and it is often very hard locating where some objects are.

best wishes,
