I'm curious to see what is the longest you have been in kit consistently for? What did your kit consist of?
For those of you that do weekend (or longer) reenactment events, what is the longest you have have stayed in impression for?
I came up for the idea of this thread when yesterday at work (My summer job is at a grocery store before I go back to school), and we had "Crazy Hat Day". Eager to use an excuse to flaunt my helmet in public, I wore my older (and heavier) Gallic G with plume to work for the better part of my shift (about 5 hours)non-stop. At the end of the day my neck was exhausted, but interestingly I woke up with no neck pain.
I haven't had the chance to wear my kit to an event, so wearing a helmet to work is the best I have so far. How about you guys?

I too have not worn my kit at an event albeit I am a private collector and not so much a reenactor.
However, I have worn my Gallic D when I have given some school talks for about 20 minutes and its 2-2.5 kilo weight started to compress my neck.

I doubt it's the longest onhere, and not all includes the armour, but approximately 4 days.
I also traveled home in it...heh heh

Longest period in period clothing: 18 days (but that's just a tunic for the night, and off-duty to full pack during day hours.
I'm normally in kit whole day during public events, which is most of the time about 8 hours. Of course that's without helmet whole day. Longest time I've been heavily packed was probably one of the days with a approx. 35 km march in full pack (around 45 kg), which took over 7 hours, including breaks, I think.

Longest time in full kit was two twelve hour stints in France a couple of years ago with a number of parade marches covering eight miles each day.
Total time in armour for this year up to now is 362 hours rough distance covered about 65 miles. Bit less than last year as I had to have time off after sugery.
Regards,
Gary.

For soft kit without armor close to three days.
For full kit minus the marching pack, about the same at Matt, 14 or so hours at Lafe.
That said, I would love the challenge of going longer in both full and soft kit.

I suppose the longest in armour may have been theparade in Rome in 2008...
but I don't take off armour at events very often, so I can't really say how long
at other times...

Paul, in full armour, or just period clothing?
If it's period clothing, then I'd say i've gone from a Friday late afternoon, until Sunday mid-afternoon in some type of Roman clothing.

I've lived in Roman period clothing - tunic, belt, caligae - at the SCA's Pennsic War (August) for up to 10 days straight. That includes coping with 2 1/2 days of torrential downpours with lightning and thunder in 2004. I wore wool during the rains and my hobnailed caligae proved their worth in the thick, slippery mud. In addition, I've used my Roman eating utensils/bowl, cup, etc. the entire time as well.
This weekend, I will be in Roman kit from Friday evening until Sunday late afternoon - and in armor during the public display periods both days and for a parade.

About 8 hours in armor at Lafe. I don't recommend longer than 4 hours for the unprepared and uninitiated.

An update, work let us wear costumes in honor of Halloween yesterday, I worked the last half hour of my shift in full kit (LS, helmet, gladius, balteus, soft kit) and then took my daughter trick-o-treating in full kit. I had also worn it for several hours during two costume parties last weekend. Needless to say without having a proper subarmalis still, my shoulders hated me
Still that does not compare to what many of you have said...
