helmet transformation

Amazing work, as always! That is a lot of detail painting. Good job!

Thanks David!
My main fear was to get the "net" correct, and i didn't really have a plan on how to do it. There are a number of ways to do a checker on a bowl, for instance, i could make each square of the same size, starting from the top, and see where that would bring me, or i could do the two sides separately etc. Instead i started buy doing the horizontal lines parallel to the ridge, and doing both sides together, so i could maintain a symetrical look. Then i did the vertical line, and here again i could choose between two ways to do that, i preferred bringing them to a point on the top.
The rest wasn't so difficult but time consuming, since i even needed to pass two hands of the black squares, for instance. I'm not too patient with such things and i didn't pay so much attention to details, but i did leave a thin border of unpainted bronze around each white square. You can't see it in the photos but it does create a nice efect when you move the helmet in the light, and it makes a still shiny helmet.

Some paintings i based mine off of.
Note that one of them has the little circles in the brighter colour squares.

Well,do you display your armour in her own house, on the big tabe among her good crystal vases and the family photos? Then even she would know something about it :-D
I have to admit though that after her first shock she approved the painting! :-)
To me,it gave a new interest, kind of as if i bought a new helmet.
