Hi Jascha,
I found this topic. I also remember the group Demetrius is talking about, and maybe they're somewhere in this topic: http://www.ancient-warfare.org/index.php...&Itemid=40 Also, this might be of interest: http://www.ancient-warfare.org/index.php...&Itemid=40 These topics, however, are quite old. I don't know whether or not the persons posting in them are still active on RAT.. Hope this helps! Welcome on RAT btw  Edit: this might be the group http://www.ancient-warfare.org/index.php...&Itemid=40

Well, probably you're talking about Musica Romana http://www.musica-romana.de/
Susanna Rühling of that group is a member, but I haven't seen her online much recently.

Why don't the oboe reeds sound right? I got those after realizing I had no aptitude or interest in learning to make my own double reeds from scratch. Would a bassoon reed give you what you need? I tried plastic straws, too, but they were uncontrollable.
Maybe look for a reed maker to work with?
