Germanic Weapons findings in the A.C. period
#1
Hi,

I am trying to recreate the germanic weapons in the A.C. period, from the IV century BC to Cesar's period.
In addition to Hjortspring, are there any other weapons findings of this period which are been classified as germanic?

Thank you

Hello Max!

There are lots of weapon finds - mainly gravefinds - which can be classified Germanic in Germany, Poland, Scandinavia and the Baltic area dating to the last four centuries B.C.
Which time and area/culture do you want to recreate in particular?

For an overview I would recommend:

C. von Carnap-Bornheim u.a.: Die Bewaffnung der Germanen und ihrer Nachbarn in den letzten Jahrhunderten vor Christi Geburt (Lublin 2002)

It's mainly in German with some English articles.

Thank you Andreas,
I am writing an article about the evolution of germanic weapons, both offensive and defensive, mainly regarding Germanic tribes from Germany and Denmark. I am starting from Hjortspring and will finish with the Cesar's wars in Gallia.
I have a lot of photos and articles about hjortspring, so I need at least a weapon finding of the IJastorf C, of the Ripdorf Culture and one of the Seedorf Culture, if available.

Thank you all,

Max
