New items from K.O.A.
#1
Kult of Athena have added several interesting items to their Greek culture section, some bronze helms from DSC, four painted versions of the DSC aspes (they have until recently only carried the unfinshed version) and an interesting leather spolas which they refer to as 'Macedonian' armour. There is also a very nice looking piece called the 'Odysseus Leather cuirass' (a bit expensive and obviously not historic, still nice though).

Thoughts, opinions?

The helmets are absolutely beautiful. I saw them a few weeks ago and have since been trying to convince my wife of the reasons I need one.

No luck yet...

Ah, keep trying she will relent eventually. Tongue Actually a Corinthian A type in bronze w/crest for less than $300.00 is not a bad deal, of course I say that without having any first hand experience with these particular helms, though DSC has a good reputation and it appears substantial effort was made to bring an affordable quality bronze helm to the market.

My wife really loved the Odysseus curaiss, until she saw the price! Confusedhock: Of course I would'nt consider spending that much for a 'fantasy' piece (my pockets just ain't that deep).

I am seriously considering one of the finish painted (the lion) aspes, again not a bad deal for a finished shield, I'll probably just place the order and beg forgiveness later. Sometimes forgiveness is easier to obtain than permission. Wink

Must be cautious though, don't want to end up in divorce court! Confusedhock:

That's funny, I work as Safety and Regulatory Specialist and that is one of sayings around our department. "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission."

I think my wife will relent, eventually, I have a birthday coming up and my eye on the bronze corinthian with the transverse crest. It's just a beautiful helmet and with a black and white crest it would only be better.

But if I starting getting a Hoplite kit together then I'm going to have start a Hoplite unit out here in California as none exist...

Yes, an upcoming birthday is the ultimate excuse for just such a purchase! Confusedmile:

Mine is in June, perhaps if I wait till around May to place an order for my aspes, I will have better luck getting forgiveness. Cool
