Alberto Angela\'s Ancient Rome
#1
This book has been recently translated into English. It is an absolute jewel of a book for those who want to understand what the city of Rome was like at the height of the empire. There is a section which describes how Romans counted numbers which is amazing.

That looks very good. I've always loved Carcopino's classic Daily Life in Ancient Rome, but that is getting very dated. This looks to be a good successor.

I read Alberto Angela book in the original language and I found it very nice, with an easy pace narration, not complex. I think that this is good book for who don't have a large knowledge about roman society.
