Heads up - The Complete Roman Army
#1
Forgive me if I've missed this in another string, but I've just bought 'The Complete Roman Army' by Adrian Goldsworthy. Pricey at £25 and I've barely done more than skimmed it at the moment, but it's looking good. Ambitious title, I thought.

Chapters on The Roman Navy, Equestrian officers, joining up, daily routine, campaign, battle, seige etc. Thought I'd drop it in here in case anyone's looking for such a thing.
Yep - "Changes in the Late Roman Army" and "Soldiers and Warfare in Late Antiquity" - chapters.

It does seem to cover a fair old period, from origins and the 'Polybian legion', Post-Marian army to Emperors to Late. Boudicca is mentioned (god how I miss the spelling I learned as a boy.) Daily routine. Lots of photos. Duty roster from 1st century AD, Egypt. Decorations, religion, kit and tactics, after service, saddles, peacetime roles and so on. Quite pleased with it, so far.
