Unfortunately it's not even clear whether it's a sword or a dagger that's intended here... You could also cite the centurio Mucianus on p. 54. However, centurions armour seems to be somewhat more irregular than that of legionaries. Besides his sword belt seems to be hanging next to his sword rather than over his shoulder, so his dagger belt might also be unslung in some way.<br>

Besides, the slanting carrying method is depicted on a 1st cent. AD guy, and daggers from precisely that period can have silver lower rings. <p>Greetings<br>
