Hi,
I own 'Casques Antiques' by Michel Feugère since several years ago. Published in 1994, it has 174 pages (in French). It deals with Graeco-Roman helmets, from the first Bronze age metallic models (briefly) to the lat Roman ridge helmets. A useful compendium, not very innovative.
It\'s all an accident, an accident of hands. Mine, others, all without mind, from one extreme to another, but neither works nor will ever.

"Römische Kampf- und Turnierrüstungen" is by Hermann Born and Marcus Junkelmann. It's from the same serie as "Römische Helme". It contains the other Roman equipment from the Guttmann collection, including sports helmets, greaves and chest pieces.
In it Junkermann tries his hand at yet another classification of Sports helmets, one that doesn't convince me though. But there are lots of photographs of pieces of equipment that are otherwise unknown.
