Roman Ships off Pandateria
#1
New PBS documentary about the Roman cargo ships found off the island of Ventotene (Panadateria). The programme follows a team of underwater archaeologists as they try and make sense of the site.
The island was where Augustus' daughter Julia was kept under house arrest. The programme examines the water collection and distribution system built to service Julia's 'gilded cage'.
Watch it here: http://to.pbs.org/akXiB7 (May be viewable in US only).

I watched this program last night and it was very interesting. Especially appreciated the expedition's cook preparing ancient Roman food and whipping up a batch of garum.

When did this notion of Julia as conspirator (conspiratra?) arise?
