Wax modeling and casting of our models!

Great work. Have you thought of making greek sauroters (spear butts)? All the current options are way too heavy, because they are solid pronze, whereas the ancient ones were hollow and rather thin all the way to the tip, thus they were much lighter.

I second that motion, Giannis. Any way to a) be closer to the originals, and b) lessen the weight would be welcomed. Walk a mile or two and that kit gets pretty heavy for us "weekend warriors".

Hi Giannis
We haven’t think about doing greek sauroters but I don’t see why not and of course we cant make them thin and hollow!
I’ve remodel the copy of wax profile from a medallion my brother bought form antiques shop which I don’t like a lot and decided to give it more classic appearance and why not shape it on Roman Centurion’s Phalerae!!!!
This is still a project but what do you think about this idea?

After a long time I was browsing on the ancient fresco and authentic materials to which I have access.I decided to stop my self on the original heraldic flag (Standard) of LEG IIII SCYTHICA.They differ in the combination of symbols than the other legions. Such as combination of Right-handed,vexillum and Imago.Or three emperors bust of Vespasian and sons on the Signum. Also the symbol of the legion in combination with crescent. With making this project on our heraldic flag we will be beyond the accepted standards in the Roman re-enactment. With my brother we decided that it would be very original. But this cost us a lot of time of gathering the information and preparing various of details.

The emblem of Legio IIII Scythica (or the old one legio IIII Sorana) was the Capricorn. Before we make it I gathered the necessary information for me and made a small wax model of the fourth.

Denarivs of Vespasianvs-The newly conquered country needed to be developed. Among those who served in the legion IIII Scythica was a young man named Titus Flavius Vespasianus, who is better known as the emperor Vespasian.

Dear Rado,

Your (re)creations are very, very good!! The detail is stunning on statue and eagle. I do not understand why this is hidden away in Marketplace, as you clearly stated these were made for your own emerging re-enactment group. Perhaps you could ask the modorator to move it to Reconstructions, so more poeple would see it.

Thank you for your invitation Robert Smile .
For now we do not have completed projects and we are not fully equipped.Because we desire to achieve a good level in our preparations. Then we will stand by our bigger and more experienced brothers in arms.

All this information I gave to my brother to start working on wax models of Capricorn.Luckily for me my brother took the technical work on making of wax work. The models are completely original work of my brother Dany Boy.I helped with information and partly with the metal work.
